Something You Absolutely Must Be Informed of: Sydney Botox
Sydney Botulinum medicine (B.tox for short) is now popular in Sydney society and now it has become an important part of any beauty routine for individuals in the Harbour City. Still I never fail to be surprised when I hear the stories about the procedure. Here I have listed some of the more common myths which we hear day in day out at Star Cosmetic Medicine, where I am employed as a physician.
Delusion # 1: I may not be able to express emotion normally!
There are sixty or so muscles in the human face. The unrelenting use of these muscles over a period of time may result in the formation of wrinkles. Too many injections of Botulinum Toxin have the effect of the facial musculature becoming less expressive. Generally physicians use comparatively small quantities to make you appear less tired, yet you will keep your facial expression.
Indeed the proper amount of B.tox in the right site means facial expression is preserved whilst any lines are softened.
Delusion # 2: B.tox is poisonous!
There is a grain of truth in this statement. Botulinum Toxin Type A is the proper scientific terminology. An overdose can result in loss of muscle tone and even may cause illness.
But to help you see the bigger picture: a famous pharmacist’s saying states that ‘everything is a poison – all depending on the dose’. All medicinal drugs in a large dosage will make you ill. If you drink too great a quantity of water it can kill you.
Delusion # 3: B.tox injections will be painful!
At Star Cosmetic Medicine the doctor utilises a hypodermic needle finer than hair. Some individuals have likened the treatments to bug bites. It is decidedly not as sore as something like a blood profile.
Delusion # 4: B.tox will numb my face!
This is totally wrong. B.tox works principally on the junction between the nerve and the facial muscle, not the nerves of sensation. Just the ability to relax muscles is affected by B.tox injections.
Delusion # 5. You cannot stop having B.tox or else you may wrinkle faster than before!
Again this is just wrong.

One set of injections is effective for around 3 months. Any injections after the first one should be effective for a little longer. The wrinkles will eventually reform as the muscle returns to normal. However they will certainly be no more noticeable than when you began.
Even if you never had B.tox ever again – any wrinkles should be smoother than if you had never been treated. Primarily because your skin has had a ‘wrinkle holiday’ whilst the treatment was effective.
