Plainly put, anorexia is an eating disorder where a person starves him or herself. Anorexia mainly affects adolescent girls. They have an intense fear of becoming fat. They think they are overweight, but in fact most anorexics weigh a full 15% below their normal body weight. Anorexia strikes about 1% of adolescent females. This is about one in one hundred women.

Some psychiatrists think anorexia is not just about being thin or fat. It stems from fear a of growing up and losing control. It’s about fear of becoming a women, growing up, building relationships, leaving home. Her body is changing and growing and she doesn’t like it and wants to be child sized again. Some psychiatrists think that eating disorders can also be caused by life experiences such abuse.

Some studies have shown that if a mother has anorexia a child is 12 time more likely to develop it than someone with no family history.

The person who suffers with anorexia cannot help herself. She must be treated by a mental health professional experienced in dealing with anorexia. Some receive long term psychotherapy.

The first thing however is to get this girl’s health back as best as you can. This person may need to be coaxed to eat, and, may need a supportive caregiver to actually watch to make sure she eats. There are numerous health concerns with anorexia. Some of these are osteoporosis, irregular heart beat and in the most severe of cases permanent failure of normal growth development. Most women sufferers of anorexia will lose their normal menstrual cycle. If an anorexic woman would conceive a child she would be likely to miscarry or have a baby born prematurely.

Without treatment up to twenty percent of anorexia suffers will die. With treatment 60% can recover and maintain healthy weight. However, even with treatment about 20% of people will continue to have an unhealthy lifetime obsession with weight and food.

If you confront a loved one about anorexia get ready to deal with someone in a true state of denial. They will be angry, and may become more withdrawn and depressed. There is nothing that you can do to change your loved one’s perception of him or herself. You can’t make your loved one eat. There are many organizations that are available to help anorexia sufferers and their families get the help they need.

“Virtual Real Estate Investing” is a relatively new concept. Everything from using the internet as an avenue to make more money in real estate to online games such as SecondLife seem to be included in the popular definition of this term.

To get the facts, I sought out the man generally considered to be the father of virtual real estate investing: Bryan Ellis of BryanEllis.com.

Ellis says he adopted the term “virtual real estate investing” sometime before Y2K after he realized that making money online is conceptually very similar to making money with physical real estate.

One example of the parallels between virtual and physical real estate Bryan Ellis cites is the similarity between the monetization of domain names versus physical property. He points out that control of a domain name or even a specific web page is much like controlling a real estate property ” those assets can be monetized in similar ways: By selling them for a profit, by leasing them, by offering advertising, etc.

The parallels really are obvious. Consider this: If you own a piece of real estate in a desirable neighborhood, your real estate has value because other people are interested in that location. Likewise, if you own a desirable domain name, others will find value in it because it serves their purposes. In either case, you could sell or lease the asset and turn it into cash.

In the end, after all the driveway sit-ups, after all the ESPN interviews, after all the
locker room fights, the Terrell Owens saga ended with just 14 words.

“The Philadelphia Eagles today announced they have terminated the contract of WR
Terrell Owens.”

And with that one-sentence statement released by the Eagles today, one of the most
tumultuous relationships between player and team in the history of sports has
concluded.

Terrell Owens is no longer the problem of the Philadelphia Eagles organization, a
fact I am sure the franchise is happy about. T.O. is now an unrestricted free agent,
free to sign with any team he chooses. Or, perhaps more accurately, with any team
that is willing to risk signing him.

But anyone who thinks we’ve heard the last of Terrell Owens has another thing
coming. Unless he signs with a team in the AFC West (which is possible, considering
the Broncos and Chiefs are among the teams most rumored to be interested in his
services) the Eagles will have face T.O. again on the field at some point.

And you can believe that the hype leading up to an Owens-Eagles match-up will be
covered more heavily than the first moon landing.

What would the nightmare scenario be for Birds fans? I’ll give you a hint… it involves
a star, the President’s home state, and the most vile sports organization in the
history of the world. T.O.’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, has met with Cowboys coach Bill
Parcells about a contract over the last few weeks, and owner Jerry Jones has made
no bones about the fact he’d love to have a player of Owens’ caliber on the ‘Boys.

Owens in Dallas. The thought makes me want to scoop out my own eyes with a
melon baller. But it’s a real possibility.

And make no mistake, Owens is going to a have a monster year in 2006. He’ll be
playing on an incentive-laden contract with a chip on his shoulder and doing his
best “I’m a good boy” routine. Whatever team takes a chance on Owens is going to
have a motivated, super-talented, team-first player on their hands, a guy who can
single-handedly take them to the Super Bowl.

It’s going to look a lot like the happy marriage we experienced with His Majesty in
2004.

Unfortunately, to the victors go the spoils. And whatever team does have the
cajones to take Owens into the fold is going to have an impossible brat on their
hands in season number two, much like the Eagles did last season. T.O. will be
coming off a highly productive season on what will probably be a contract that is far
below what he would have gotten from the Eagles, and will once again demand a
new deal.

How that team chooses to handle the situation is up to them, but I’m giving fair
warning that it’s going to happen. So whoever is thinking about bringing him
aboard better prepare for that contingency. If it’s Dallas, then I’m rooting for it to
happen. Anyone else, God be with you.

Anyone who believes Owens’ days as a premier wide receiver are over is fooling
himself. T.O. is still the most talented wideout in the game, and he will make
whoever signs him immediately better next year. Heaven help us if he faces the
Birds in 2006. Playing an angry Terrell Owens is not a good thing.

But for today, Owens is no longer the Eagles’ headache. After one year of
unsurpassing glory followed by a year of incredible heartache and agony, Terrell
Owens will be somebody else’s blessing/curse in 2006 and beyond. Having been
through the roller coaster ride that is T.O. on my roster, I wouldn’t recommend it to
anyone. But someone is going to take a chance on him.

Here’s hoping the Birds won’t have to face a ticked-off Terrell Owens in 2006.
Otherwise he’ll have us all reaching for that great big bottle of Excedrin one last
time.

Why use lightweight and ultralight tents? Because a heavy tent is one of the biggest obstacles to lightweight backpacking. You have to cut the weight of the “big three” (shelter, backpack and sleeping bag) to really go light. How do you choose one, though? Start by asking yourself the following questions:

1. Are you claustrophobic? Some ultralight tent designs are really just fancy bivy sacks. For those who hate tight squeezes, it will be like sleeping in a coffin.

2. How tall are you? If the length of the tent is only a few inches more than your height, you’ll be touching the walls. This probably means getting wet from the condensation on them.

3. What do you do in a tent? If you just sleep, total floor and head space are not important. If you normally play cards with friends for hours, you’ll need a design that allows for that.

4. Do you backpack in bad weather often? If all you plan to do is camp on nice summer nights, you can just look at the cheapest lightweight tents, and worry less about quality.

5. How much have you budgetted for a tent? More money equals a lighter tent, but if you can’t get it light enough on your budget, you may want to consider going even lighter – and cheaper – with a tarp shelter.

6. Which is more important to you, fast set-up or lightest weight? Hopefully you’ll find a tent with the right balance, but keep your preference in mind when shopping.

More About Lightweight Tents

Single-layer tents (without a rain-fly) will usually have more condensation inside. This is true of even those that claim to be waterproof and breathable. It is less of a problem with the newer designs that have a lot of screen/ventilation area, because air circulation is as important as “breathable” material. These materials just don’t breath that well anyhow.

Test your tent. It’s no fun spending 20 minutes setting up a complicated tent in the rain. Also, it can be worse than inconvenient to tear seams because of a design that stretches everything so tight you have to fight with it. Try the tent in your yard or living room, before you head into the wilderness. That way you can return it if it won’t work for you.

There is only one totally enclosed 2-person ultralight tent that I know of under 3 pounds. It’s a single layer, but the forward sloping door allows for a large screen area, to keep air-flow at a maximum. This keeps condensation to a minimum.

There are “floorless” tents, which are specially cut tarps which typically use your trekking poles for support. One of the lightest of these is a three-person design that weighs less than 2 pounds. I haven’t tried it, but it gets good reviews, and it is in the weight range I like for ultralight tents. You have to bring a groundsheet with this type, so figure that weight into the decision.

Unfortunately, I’ve discovered the hard way – four tents and counting – that you tend to get what you pay for with lightweight tents. That’s one of the reasons I backpack with a tarp.

Rod Handling at Night

Fish feed by sense at night, not by sight. Using some of the proven techniques below, you can turn an average night of fishing into a fish fighting frenzy! Having bait that is in good shape, which will only enhance these methods.

** Quickshot Tip: Who else wants to swarm hundreds of hungry fish to your fishing spot in less than 45 minutes? It works everytime, and it’s getting more popular. “The Evening Secret” is the best method of increasing your catches.

It is important to keep your bait lively, and move it. Pump your rod tip up and down and jiggle your bait by wiggling your rod tip stimulate bites at night.

One effective technique has been to start with your bait at 20 feet down, and lower it 5 feet at a time. Raising the pole high above your head and then letting the bait flutter down is also a good method for stimulating bites.

If the bite is really on, never let your bait sit still for more than 30 seconds. Keep moving it to keep the bite going. Another effective method of this is to have rod tip extended out to the side. Lift and drop the tip several times while swinging the rod 180 degrees. Let it rest 30 seconds and swing back, it takes about 10 seconds for bait to catch up. Watch the line catch up to your rod, and give it a yank on any twitch or slack – you’ve got a fish on!

When fishing with lures, work them slowly. Surface lures are best for swarms of feeding fish at night though this does not mean fish will not take underwater lures or baits after dark.

Cast your surface lure to a promising spot; let it float; then pop it gently. If this does not bring a strike, reel the lure along for several feet, or pop it along steadily so that it makes a big commotion on the surface. Then slow your retrieve and bring the lure along. By kicking up a commotion in the beginning, you may attract a bass or some other game fish. By slowing the retrieve down later, you will give the fish a chance to locate the lure and strike it.

Sensing Night Bites

Did you know that many bites from the big boys go completely unnoticed? Sometimes the smallest tug brings up the biggest fish (in my experience). Here are some proven methods to increase your sensitivity to these subtle big game bites.

Braided line saves a lot of retying of frayed line and its sensitivity makes subtle bites easier to detect.

Wearing a headlight for focused light is recommended. When you have a bite on, you need to put that focused light on your rod tip to help you. If you are fishing deep, when the bite is on, the rod tip will barely move because the fish is swimming out, not down. If it swims up, the rod will slacken – in either case it will be hard to tell unless you have some light on that rod tip.

Equipping your reels with fluorescent monofilament line will dramatically increase your catch ratio. Use it in combination with a black light so that you can detect subtle strikes in total darkness.

By the way, a black light is probably one of the most important pieces of night fishing gear. It will make fluorescent monofilament line glow like a laser beam across the dark water and will allow anglers to detect subtle strikes that would ordinarily go unnoticed.
