Graduation Regalia

Graduation regalia are academic dresses worn in the formal celebration of a graduation ceremony to symbolize a graduate’s achievements. Though the graduates may opt to wear other garments or clothing of honor as enrichment to the ceremony’s color, they are usually encouraged to wear the graduation regalia over any other clothing. White fur usually borders the lining of the graduation regalia which is usually satin colored. These academic dresses can be hired or bought, but despite economic constraints, graduates are advised purchase the dress and keep it as a memento to cherish the memory of a hard-earned achievement.

Pittsburgh Pirates Handicapping: 2006 Season Preview

After 3 consecutive 70+ win seasons, these Pirates faltered to 67 wins. They were -18 units on the season. We cannot blame them as they were in a heated NL Central. Heck, maybe they win their division if they were in the National League West. Maybe.

One thing to note about these Pirates is that they are a historically bad team against left handed pitching. It is almost always a sure thing when you see a dominant lefty facing this team. Going against these Pirates as an underdog of greater than +150 facing a lefty was 16-2 +13 units over the past 3 years. Taking underdogs with a lefty on the mound was 30-23 +11 units against thiese Pirates.

Combining the two angles, you have a 46-25 (+24 units) trend saying to go against these Pirates when they face lefties.

Trends and angles can change and the odds can always be adjusted accordingly. That is why it is important to combine trends together to find strong bets.

For example, we see that going against the Pirates in certain situations against lefties is money. We also saw, for example, betting the Giants at home versus southpaws was money. So if you see the Pirates playing at San Francisco and both teams have a lefty on the mound, you have money made by taking the Giants.

Manchester Work Accident Statistics

According to figures released by the Manchester office of the Health & Safety Executive for the year, 2007/08 there were 7200 work related accidents in the Greater Manchester area.

The Greater Manchester town of Bolton saw 730 accidents and two people died. Manchester had 1700 injuries and 4 fatalities. Oldham had a high rate of 600 injuries but no deaths.

The city of Salford encountered 650 accidents but also had zero fatalities. Stockport reported 1 death and 550 accidents with injury. Wigan suffered over 800 accidents, 2 deaths, Trafford 1 death, and 580 injuries.

For the North West region as a whole, just over 19,000 accidents resulted in injuries and 28 people lost their lives while performing their work duties.

According to the HSE these statistics point out that, there is still a very long way to go in the reduction of accidents and their resultant injuries and deaths.

Each number represents pain and financial hardship as well as grief and bereavement suffered by those who have lost loved ones.

The HSE say that falling from a height or being struck by a moving object are significant in many cases of serious injury while slip and fall still holds the number one spot overall.

Don’t let your company add to these stats, each case brings investigations fines and possibly even a prison sentence for those who are found responsible.

The One New Year’s Resolution To Make (And Keep)!

2002–another year, another chance to make a fresh start. What resolutions will you make this year? And, more importantly, which ones will you keep? After all, making resolutions is easy,
keeping them can be tough after your initial good intentions start to fall by the wayside and old habits start to kick in.

Every year I see the same thing. The gym suddenly becomes more crowded with the “newbies” who have admirably decided to begin a regular exercise program. Not to worry, most of them will quit by Washington’s Birthday weekend. Also, everyone you talk to is
on a diet after having too much of the holidays. This too shall pass. I’m not trying to be cruel, but good intentions don’t turn into lasting results for the majority of us.

Wouldn’t it be great to make a healthy resolution this year that you can actually keep? Well I have one for you, it’s called “gradual lifestyle change”. If you really pay attention to the top health experts, not the “fad of the day” diet gurus-it’s a change in lifestyle, not a quick fix, that helps you achieve your health goals–losing those pounds or maintaining your
weight; increasing your stamina; lowering your cholesterol, blood pressure or blood sugar; etc. This concept is not new, but what may be new to you is how you approach it.

In my own personal experience, and that of my coaching clients, when you make a lifestyle change, it’s the result of making gradual changes that fit in with who you are, rather than ones that force you to fit yourself into food or activity choices that go against your preferences, that lead to success.

I successfully adopted the gradual lifestyle change approach myself after years of yo-yo dieting, emotional eating and seeing my possible health future before me in my own family’s struggles with diabetes, heart disease and cancer. My solution was to take
my already pretty healthy lifestyle up another notch to what I call the “NMP” eating style–on a part-time basis for starters, which then evolved nearly three years ago to a full-time, permanent change.

This worked because as a healthy
“NMPer” I eat what I enjoythings like cheeseburgers, chicken tacos, meatballs and chicken caesar salad in their more healthful non-meat/poultry forms,
along with fish, eggs (egg whites or liquid substitutes), fat-free/low-fat dairy products, whole grains, vegetables and fruit. I applied the same philosophy–experimenting until I found what I enjoyed-to my exercise program, which currently includes walking, kick boxing, weight training and yoga.

My healthy lifestyle change was truly gradual–it did not happen overnight. And guess what, it doesn’t end either. I am always looking for ways to improve with new food products and choices,
new forms of activity, new ways to relax and appropriate supplementation. Healthy living should be an ongoing journey that is an enjoyable one at every stop along the way. And this
year is the one that it can begin for you too! Take the first step by making your “gradual lifestyle change” resolution. If you do, the odds are very good that it will be the one resolution you’ll actually keep.

Why you don’t need Motivation

As a life coach, I often hear people say they lack motivation – in fact, the “motivation discussion” is almost a ritual with my new clients. You really want something, in fact you almost need it, but you just don’t have the drive to get to it. As a result, you blame yourself; you get stuck in your disappointment, your guilt, or your frustration – further and further away from your goal.
But why are we not always driven enough to meet our objectives in the first place? Is it that we are not sufficiently determined? Or maybe we are not tough and strong enough?

The way I see things, motivation is akin to the sap that runs in the tree: it keeps the tree alive – in fact, it’s essential to it – but it’s useless if the tree (our objective) is rooted in poor, unhealthy grounds. It’s not our motivation that makes the objective real, it’s the other way around: when our goals are healthy, the drive to take action flows naturally. When our goals are unhealthy, we have to push ourselves all along the path to “success” – and we don’t even feel like celebrating at the end (when we do get there).

So what is an “unhealthy” objective? It’s an objective we hold for the wrong reasons, or with the wrong attitude: it’s rooted in poor grounds. It’s not that we should not lose weight; it’s just that we decided to do so because we don’t like (let alone love) ourselves and we think that will patch the problem. It’s not that we should not start this new business; it’s just that we are dead afraid of failure. And there’s nothing wrong with studying law, it’s just that we do so only to honor our (deceased) father’s values and wishes.

There are many factors that can literally kill our motivation at its roots, but weakness certainly isn’t one of them. The real motivation inhibitors go more along this line:

- Our objective is not a real priority (Going to the gym, when you have three children to take care of)
- We feel our objective is inaccessible (A brand-new Volvo when we can’t afford a Toyota)
- Our objective was inspired or chosen by someone else (That law degree…Or maybe your partner wants you to stop smoking)
- Our objective is motivated by self-rejection rather than self-respect (Very frequent, and always overlooked. People trying to lose weight often experience that)
- Our objective is a strong “should”, or a vibrant “must”; but not a “want” (It would be appropriate to be in better terms with the other members of our family, but we are too resentful about past events to really change anything)
- We are afraid of success, afraid of failure. Afraid of something (We are conflicted about our objective, we have mixed motives – even if we are not aware of them)
- Our objective is not in alignment with our true self (Looking for a job in a field that doesn’t feel right to us)
- Some part of us doesn’t want to reach our objective, for some reasons (We know that when we do reach our goal, we’ll have to do or experience something that repulses us)
- We feel overwhelmed by all the actions we have to take (we have a hard time taking one small step at a time)
- A recent failure makes us feel powerless
- Etc.

When we start looking at this, we realize that the results we get (or do not get) are an accurate reflection of what we deeply think, and feel. We do not experience in life what we hope for, but rather what we think we deserve, what we expect, what we are the most confident in. That’s how we create. We will not feel much motivation for a goal that is incongruent with our profound beliefs and thoughts – as idyllic as this goal may be.

Motivation isn’t about toughness and strength – it’s about alignment. It’s not necessarily about wanting something very badly… but more about wanting something completely. When we lack motivation, some part of us is saying, “I don’t want to reach that goal – it doesn’t serve me”. Maybe it’s time to change our objective… maybe we need to look inward and take care of other things first (see the list above). Or maybe we just need to take a deep breath, relax, and listen to the wind for a while…

Information About Warwick Castle

If you are looking for a great family day out then you could not go far wrong with a trip to Warwick Castle. Built in 1068 this castle is steeped in history and the surrounding gardens and views are spectacular. I am somebody who loves to visit different castles around the country and I would have to say that Warwick is probably my favourite.

As you walk around the castle and its grounds you see many people dressed in original costume and in the summer there are normally barbeques in the gardens and on one occasion I saw a puppet show.

The Earls Of Warwick

Warwick Castle was built to be very sturdy in an attempt to stop intruders getting into the castle and to keep it from falling down after the many battles that took place in this period.

The castle has now been taken over by the Tussauds group and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the UK.

Areas of Warwick Castle to look out for include:

Guys Tower

The Towers and Ramparts

Bear and Clarence Towers

The Curtain Walls

The Gatehouse and Barbican

Caesar’s Tower

The Dungeon

The Ghost Tower

The Chapel

If you are planning a trip to England or live in the country itself I would certainly recommend a visit to this castle, I actually take my own family twice a year.

Gaming Establishment Taking Chances: a Short Guide to the Gambling Pastimes Gambling Aficionados like to Take Part in

If you have not figured out gaming hall betting, please keep reading.

The most common definition of a gaming hall is a construction that offers friendly gambling. Here, visitors will have fun at coin operated machines or trying out some other wagers. Gambling saloon games generally have logically determined odds included that guarantee the establishment preserves the upper hand above the betting fans.

Far too many betting saloon games can result in you becoming far too infatuated rapidly. For example the infamous one armed bandit, a cash operated machine with 3+ reels that circumvolve if an arm coupled to it is wrenched. This machine in the main settles based on predefined patterns of designs shown on the screen of the machine. Disastrously, betting hall games allow the appearance of remaining in control, effectively conning the gaming aficionado – the punter is endowed decisions, but actually these don’t really remove the gamer’s fundamental disadvantage. That is caused by the the betting hall never repaying the entire wager as hoped for. This systematic arrangement is frequently noticeable in acclaimed casino games like blind poker, dice games, roulette or blackjack. Seven card stud poker is really a very popular casino pastime. The gamers, studiously guarding their fully covered cards, are placing bets into a central pot which is ultimately paid out to the winning gamester carrying the highest hand. (Of course, the best bluffing hand may well prevail)

gambling strategies

Like seven-card stud, blackjack is likewise an immensely fashionable casino pastime. An amount of its celebrity is due to the mix of chance and know how and decision making, and a process termed card counting. This is a very complex technique in which gaming enthusiasts can significantly shift the arm of chance of the game to their own advantage by both wagering & tactical opetations based on the hands dealt.

Craps is a well-known casino pastime based on the throw of 2 dice. Clients are placing bets on the score of one roll, or on a sequence of rolls on 2 dice. Very much unlike blackjack, there isn’t any probable winner system players could profit by to improve the odds.

Roulette is another notable casino based pastime — a croupier spins a roulette wheel which has thirty-seven (applies to classical roulette) or, respectively exactly 38 (applies to American roulette) distinctively marked divisions in which a tossed pellet will come to land, which decides on the winning number as well as its related combinations. Now if the punter bets on a specific number which is successful meaning they’ve got a lucky hand, the promised reward will be thirty five to 1, the original bet is rebated. Consequently in totality it’s multiplied by a factor of thirty-six.

Do your best to be very much on the alert for all that as many of these betting room gambling pastimes may well be pretty habituating. An alarming number of lives have been ruined in the course of addictive gambling & while it indeed might be fun, undertake to regulate oneself.

Raised Letter or Full Color Business Cards?

Raised Letter and Full Color. These are the Big Two to consider when you are searching around for business cards that will best represent the image you want to portray for your business.

The difference between Raised Letter and Full Color printing is in how the ink is applied to the card stock.

Thermography is the type of printing that produces ink that stands up off the page slightly. When you run your fingers across the surface, you can feel the printing on the stock.

Each color that is printed has a separate plate, and the cards have to be run through the press for each color chosen. These types of cards have a very elegant and refined look about them, especially if the colors and stocks chosen are complimentary. There are hundreds of varieties of stocks and inks to choose from.

Full Color printing is much like printing from your ink jet printer at home. All the inks are printed on the page at the same time, combined to create hues, shades and photo images.

These cards have been traditionally used by real estate agents, insurance agents and the like. But now, with this type of printing becoming more affordable and available, anyone can choose this option. These designs most of the time seem sharper and more upbeat.

To choose the look that is right for you, think first about the image you are projecting for your company. If you are you a doctor? You probably would rather have a classier linen stock with black and gold inks.

Same for lawyers and other professionals. A handsome burgundy on grey fiber stock would speak volumes about your professionalism.

The raised letter would add to the expensive feel. There is really no need to add more than one color and black in printing raised letter cards. A doctor or lawyer is usually using cards to provide clients with contact information, not get more business.

Full color is proven to get a 30% better response rate than regular printing. But this is only a bonus if your business aims to use the business cards to get more business.

In reality, cost usually dictates the biggest part of your decision making process. However, try to consider your image first. You might find that if you choose the card that has the best representation of your image, the cost ends up being less than if you choose the wrong one.

Rock Climbing – Preserve Your Experiences

Rock climbing is a great way to escape the rat race, live on the edge and get a heck of a view. Alas, your rock climbing experiences can fade with time. The best way to prevent this is to keep a rock climbing journal.

Rock climbing Journals

Take a minute to give some consideration to your most recent rock climbing experience. What sticks out in your mind? Did you go bouldering at Joshua Tree for the weekend? Now think about the first time you ever went rock climbing. Undoubtedly, you remember few things about the geography, people you went with and the particular rock climbing routes. The experiences you’ve forgotten are lost to time. If you keep a rock climbing journal, this won’t be the case.

There are famous instances of people keeping journals throughout time. Of course, Anne Frank’s Diary is the best example. In her diary, Anne kept a running commentary of the two years her family spent hiding from the Nazis. While your rock climbing experiences better be more lighthearted, keeping a journal will let you remember them as the years pass.

A good rock climbing journal combines a number of characteristics. First, it should be compact so you don’t have to take up unnecessary space for other things. Second, it should have a case to protect it from the elements and so on. Third, the journal should contain blank areas to write your notes. Fourth, the journal should contain cue spaces to remind you to keep notes on specific things. Cues should include:

1. Who you went rock climbing with,

2. The nature and quality of the rock,

3. Who you met and contact information for them,

4. The geographic and weather conditions,

5. Any unique things that occurred while rock climbing,

6. The routes you took up the ice and alternatives.

7. The equipment you needed to make the climb, and

8. Any inside information provided by locals or other climbers you met.

At the end of the rock climbing trip, you should be able to get the following from your journal:

1. Contact information for other climbers you met,

2. Enough detail to provide you or a friend with a route guide if you climb the location a second time.

3. Memories to reflect upon years later, and

4. Something to pass on to your friends, children and grandchildren.

To get the most out of your rock climbing journal, you should write in it just before you climb and when you return. It is always interesting to see the different impressions you have before and after a climb. Was it harder than you thought or easier?

Rock climbing is a great way to commune with nature and spend a weekend. Make sure to preserve the experience with your rock climbing journal.
